The Greater St. Louis metropolitan area offers a unique blend of communities and businesses. The 16 counties that comprise the region are home to nearly 2.8 million people. St. Louis’ outstanding cultural and educational institutions, exciting recreational opportunities, and unique neighborhoods create an appealing metropolitan area that offers all the commercial benefits of a large city with the intimacy of a much smaller community. St. Louis’ wide mix of neighborhoods connected by a modern highway system make it a convenient place to navigate, and affordable housing rates and good public schools keep families rooted here.

From a business owner’s perspective, Greater St. Louis offers a broadly talented work force, a pro-growth business culture, and many economic business incentives that create jobs with good wages and benefits. According to the Regional Commerce and Growth Association, St. Louis is an appealing market for startup businesses. The region has numerous incubators where new firms can co-locate to find support and obtain inexpensive office and lab space. “St. Louis might be the business-incubator capital of the nation,” the St. Louis Post-Dispatch observed last year.
